Bybit has launched trading in more than 1,000 U.S. stocks and exchange traded funds for eligible global users, allowing them to purchase securities using USDC directly from their exchange accounts.

Summary

  • Bybit has launched trading in more than 1,000 US stocks and ETFs, including Apple, Nvidia and Tesla, for eligible global users.
  • Customers can purchase supported securities using USDC, with fractional shares, zero commissions and 24/5 trading available.
  • Alpaca handles execution, clearing and custody, while eligible investors receive an economic interest in the underlying securities.
  • Cash dividends are converted into USDC and credited to users’ trading accounts, while shareholder voting rights are planned for a later phase.

According to an October 12 announcement shared with crypto.news, the service covers major U.S. companies including Apple, Nvidia, Tesla and Micron Technology, along with funds such as the Invesco QQQ ETF.

Access is limited to users in permitted jurisdictions who have completed the required Know Your Customer verification. Orders are routed through Bybit’s brokerage infrastructure and executed by Alpaca, a U.S. self-clearing broker-dealer that holds the underlying securities in custody.

Unlike synthetic products or derivatives that track stock prices, the new service gives eligible customers an economic interest in the securities they purchase.

Bybit stock trading offers fractional shares and 24/5 access

Customers can buy and sell supported stocks and ETFs using USDC from their Bybit accounts, with fractional shares available for eligible securities.

Trading is available on a 24/5 basis, covering U.S. premarket, regular and after-hours sessions, although availability may vary depending on the security.

Bybit said it would charge zero commissions on eligible stock purchases and sales. Users can manage their equity holdings alongside cryptocurrency positions within the exchange’s ecosystem.

The service supports corporate actions, including cash dividends, stock dividends and stock splits.

Cash dividends are converted from U.S. dollars into USDC before being credited to customers’ Unified Trading Accounts. Stock dividends and splits are reflected directly in their holdings, subject to the applicable terms of each security.

Certain corporate actions may face restrictions at launch, while shareholder voting rights are planned for a future phase.

Ben Zhou, Bybit’s co-founder and CEO, said the launch was part of the exchange’s effort to bring traditional and digital financial markets onto a single platform.

“Financial markets have long been separated across different products and platforms, but users increasingly expect a more connected experience,” Zhou said.

Alpaca handles stock execution and custody

Bybit Stocks is provided by Infra Capital Limited, an introducing broker regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius under license GB23202169.

Alpaca Securities LLC, which operates as Alpaca Clearing and is a FINRA and SIPC member, provides U.S. securities clearing, settlement and custody services.

Yoshi Yokokawa, Alpaca’s co-founder and CEO, said the partnership would help Bybit offer global users access to U.S. equities alongside its existing trading products.

Bybit, which says it serves more than 80 million users worldwide, already offers cryptocurrency spot and derivatives trading, traditional market access through MetaTrader 5, tokenized equities and TradFi perpetual contracts.

The exchange previously introduced tokenized equity products through its IPO Express service, including exposure to SpaceX.

Its work with traditional financial assets has included a partnership with Franklin Templeton involving tokenized money market fund shares as trading collateral.

Zhou said Bybit viewed the integration of traditional assets and cryptocurrency services as part of its long-term strategy, pointing to the company’s existing work in real-world asset tokenization.

Access to the stock trading service remains subject to Bybit Stocks’ terms and conditions, jurisdictional restrictions and applicable risk disclosures. Investors may lose part of their invested capital.
