Bitcoin has climbed back toward $78,000 on November 1, while Lighter (LIT) has gained around 18% and several smaller cryptocurrencies have recorded double-digit moves despite relatively quiet trading among major altcoins.
Summary
- Bitcoin traded near $78,000 on November 1, recovering from the selling that followed Binance’s $6.3 billion hack.
- Lighter (LIT) gained around 18% to $3.19, outperforming most major cryptocurrencies during Sunday’s trading.
- CoinGecko data showed Dessa, dKargo and Powerledger among the strongest gainers, while FUNToken and UnifAI fell.
- Ethereum and BNB recorded modest gains, while Solana and XRP remained relatively quiet.
- Analyst Ali Martinez named INJ, SUI, NIGHT, PENGU and PROMPT among his preferred altcoins following the sell-off.
According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin traded near $78,000 at the time writing, gaining about 1% over 24 hours. Its price moved between $77,303 and $78,134 during the period, putting the $78,000 level back within reach following last week’s losses.
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization stood near $2.68 trillion, up 0.7%, with Bitcoin accounting for roughly 58.4% of the market.
Bitcoin price approaches $78,000 after Binance hack losses
Bitcoin has spent the weekend recovering from the October 29 Binance hack, which sent the cryptocurrency toward a six-week low near $76,100.
The selling followed an already difficult week for BTC. Earlier attempts to recover above $80,000 had failed, while the Federal Reserve’s decision to leave interest rates unchanged offered little support.

As crypto.news reported on October 30, Bitcoin briefly slipped below $77,000 as the security breach prompted concerns about exchange liquidity and customer funds.
Market analysts identified $76,000–$77,000 as an important support area, with a return above $80,000 requiring sustained buying activity.
The latest CoinGecko reading places BTC above that support zone, although the price remains around 3.7% lower over seven days.
Binance began reopening Bitcoin withdrawals on Sunday, followed by selected cryptocurrency and stablecoin networks.
The exchange says it has replenished approximately 95% of affected assets and intends to cover the remaining losses through company resources.
LIT gains 18% while major altcoins trade quietly
Lighter led the stronger performances among larger altcoins, trading near $3.19 after an 18% daily gain.
The token moved between $2.69 and $3.20 over 24 hours, with trading volume exceeding $100 million. Its market capitalization stood near $797 million.
Ethereum, meanwhile, traded around $2,269, gaining 1.1%. BNB recovered toward $714, while XRP changed hands near $1.25.
Solana remained close to $95.43, showing little daily movement. These relatively small changes contrasted with the substantial swings recorded across several smaller tokens.
The October 30 market sell-off had pushed Ethereum below $2,200 and triggered more than $1.5 billion in cryptocurrency liquidations.
Sunday’s recovery has therefore been uneven, with some assets making larger gains while others continue trading below their earlier prices.
CoinGecko identifies today’s biggest crypto gainers and losers
Beyond LIT, CoinGecko’s gainers and losers rankings showed substantial movements among lower-ranked cryptocurrencies.
Dessa (DESSA) gained 68% to $0.02654, while dKargo (DKA) climbed 34% to $0.003346. Powerledger (POWR) rose 25% to $0.07055.
Gravity (G) advanced 22.6%, and Prom (PROM) gained 13% to $5.80. Among better-known tokens, LayerZero (ZRO) and Morpho (MORPHO) each recorded gains near 9.3%.
Losses were similarly uneven. FUNToken (FUN) fell 29.1%, while UnifAI Network (UAI) declined 22.3%. Cap (CAP) dropped 17.1%, with MemeCore (M) losing 11.6%.
Plasma (XPL) traded near $0.07380 after an 8.1% decline, showing continued weakness among tokens that had struggled during the weekend.
The rankings cover the top 1,000 cryptocurrencies and can change as 24-hour price movements are updated.
Analyst Ali Martinez names five altcoins after market sell-off
While Bitcoin attempts another recovery, crypto analyst Ali Martinez has identified five altcoins he is accumulating following the market decline.
In an October 31 post, Martinez said the Binance hack had created fear across cryptocurrency markets, which he viewed as a buying opportunity.
His selections were Injective (INJ), Sui (SUI), Midnight (NIGHT), Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) and Wayfinder (PROMPT).
For INJ, Martinez identified $6 as a level to watch, with a possible move toward $18 if support holds.
He placed SUI’s support near $0.80 and identified $1.30 as a potential neckline target, followed by $2 if the pattern breaks higher.
For NIGHT, the analyst pointed to a golden cross on the three-day chart and discussed a possible recovery toward $0.070.
Martinez identified $0.011 as a potential breakout level for PENGU, while PROMPT’s weekly TD Sequential reading led him to watch $0.028.
