On November 27, 2024, the Ethereum-based metaverse gaming platform The Sandbox launched “Attack on Titan: Invasion,” a tower defense-themed game in partnership with the popular manga and anime series Attack on Titan.

About ‘Attack on Titan: Invasion’: It is a free-to-play game playable on Windows and Mac.
- Gameplay: Since players will be part of the unit, they will be required to undergo training, then jump into battle to face successive waves of Titan attacks.
- During these waves, players will work alongside famous characters from the manga such as Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert.
- Phases: In every wave, there are two phases:
- Preparation Phase: Players will place cannons and ammunition according to the current state of the Titan invasion.
- Defense Phase: Players will fight against the Titans and prevent them from attacking civilians.
- To Win the Game: Players must trigger the ending quest with Eren. To reach this stage, they will have to resist a certain number of cycles and have completed a certain number of quests unlocked throughout the game.
- Thus, the main objective is to prevent civilians from Titans’ attacks.
- If at any point in the game, a player has too many losses, they will lose the game.
- How to Kill a Titan? There are three ways that the game developers have hinted to kill titans:
- Using VME: Vertical Maneuver Equipment is a special skill and sword set.
- From a roof, hold the right mouse button and stop in mid-air by releasing the button.
- The Titan can be killed by jumping near the nape of its neck.
- Shooting on Titan: Players must first arm a cannon with an ammo wooden crate, then move to interact with a Titan to help the cannon focus on the target.
- Ask for Help: Players can get help from other players.
- They should identify the soldiers on high ground and give them the task of destroying a nearby Titan.
- Using VME: Vertical Maneuver Equipment is a special skill and sword set.
- Game Assets: Though the game is free-to-play and is playable even without a starting NFT, it should be noted that Attack on Titan: Invasion has in-game NFT collections that players can purchase for better gaming experience.
