After concluding its RAITE 2024, the local Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) hub in the country, known as ISLA Camp, launched another run of the iThink Hackathon as part of Philippine Startup Week 2024 (PHSW24).

Key Details: The iThink Hackathon at PHSW24 was a 10-day hackathon that focused on Filipino entrepreneurship and tech innovation.

  • The Goal: It aims to bring together tech innovators, student developers, entrepreneurs, and investors who build and pitch digital solutions to real-world issues. 
  • The Offer: Aside from allowing builders to develop their projects, ISLA Camp also offered mentorship and feedback. 
  • Entities Involved: The hackathon was co-presented by Tier One Entertainment, Devcon Philippines, and Filipino Web Development Peers.
  • Demo Day: The iThink Hackathon concluded ‌through its demo day on November 15 at Tier One HQ, where teams showcased projects to industry experts and potential investors.

Zoom Out: This is the sixth edition of iThink Hackathon by ISLA Camp.

  • The fifth edition was called the Regional Assembly on Information Technology Education (RAITE) 2024 iThink Hackathon at the Angeles University Foundation. 
  • This edition took three weeks and concluded on November 7, 2024. 
  • The top 3 projects are:
    • Agira – farm listing system
    • Kumare – blockchain lending app
    • ReadWithMe -bAI-powered learning platform
  • Winners received ₱50,000 in prizes. ICP Hub Philippines also awarded five laptops to IT students from PSITE Region 3 for their dedication to their studies.
