The primary mobile app for international cryptocurrency exchange OKX is no longer available for download on Google Play Store in the Philippines.

A search for “OKX” on the platform currently displays results for the local exchange Coins.ph and the “OKX Wallet: Portal to Web3” application, while the main exchange trading app is missing.

Previous Regulatory Enforcement

The app’s disappearance follows regulatory enforcement actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against unlicensed cryptocurrency platforms.

On Aug. 1, 2025, the SEC issued an advisory flagging 10 international exchanges, including OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, Kraken, Bitget, and MEXC, for operating without required licenses under SEC Virtual Asset Service Provider rules.

The regulator cited risks to Filipino investors, including potential loss of funds, lack of legal recourse, and vulnerabilities related to money laundering and terrorist financing.

In its advisory, the SEC stated that it would pursue enforcement measures, including website blocking and takedown requests submitted to technology companies such as Google and Meta.

Escalating Regulatory Crackdown

The removal of OKX aligns with a series of enforcement actions targeting unauthorized crypto platforms operating in the country.

Following directives from the National Telecommunications Commission, telecommunications providers including PLDT, Smart, and Globe Telecom blocked access to the websites of flagged exchanges in late 2025.

Binance became the first major platform to have its app removed from the Philippine Google Play Store in February 2026, followed by Bybit in March 2026.

In April 2026, mobile applications for Binance, Bitget, OKX, and MEXC were also removed from the Philippine Apple App Store.

Binance has since announced a Philippine re-entry via local firm Blockshoals. (Read More: Just In: Binance Partner Blockshoals Selects BSP-Licensed VASP for SEC Sandbox Integration)
