MariBank users in the Philippines may soon be trading digital assets and holding dollar stablecoins inside the same app they use for daily transfers and shopping savings.

The digital bank has begun circulating an in-app “Crypto Survey” to selected users. While MariBank has not formally announced a new product line, the detailed questionnaire reveals that the bank is actively gathering market research on whether its user base wants integrated crypto trading, stablecoin yield products, and crypto-based checkout features.

What the Survey Asks

The survey directly asks customers how likely they would be to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency directly inside the app using their existing MariBank or ShopeePay balance.

To gauge specific demand, the questionnaire presents several feature concepts for users to evaluate:

  • Direct Fiat-to-Crypto Trading: Instant buy and sell functionality tied directly to account balances.
  • Shopee Commerce Integration: Paying for Shopee checkout items using crypto or earning crypto cashback rewards on purchases.
  • Stablecoin Savings and Yield: Saving in US dollar-backed stablecoins like USDT and USDC or earning interest on digital asset holdings.
  • Cross-Border Transfers: Sending or receiving international remittances using stablecoins.
  • Advanced Features: Spot trading with order books, automated dollar-cost averaging (DCA), and derivative trading like margin or perpetuals.

The survey also asks users to rank their most-used platforms, listing local options like Coins.ph, PDAX, GCrypto, and Maya Crypto alongside international exchanges like Binance, Bybit, and OKX, and identifies key pain points, including high trading fees, security worries, and confusing cash-in procedures.

A New Licensed Crypto App Soon?

If MariBank translates this user research into an actual product rollout, it will mark a major expansion in the Philippine retail crypto landscape.

Local e-wallet competitors like GCash (via GCrypto) and Maya (via Maya Crypto) already offer integrated trading features to capture retail volume. MariBank entering the space with direct integration into ShopeePay balances would give millions of account holders another seamless path to hold digital assets without setting up external wallets or dealing with third-party exchanges.

The survey explicitly notes that participation is voluntary and intended solely to guide internal user research and evaluate future possibilities. MariBank Philippines, Inc. operates as a digital bank regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Will you trade crypto on Maribank if it becomes available?
