Kaia DLT Foundation, the organization spearheading the expansion of the Layer 1 blockchain Kaia, has announced the successful closing of Pegasus, the debut ship finance product from Galactica.

Key Details

Galactica is the flagship real-world asset (RWA) project within the Kaia ecosystem. The deal secured funding for a $25 million LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) vessel, marking a significant milestone in applying blockchain tokenization to the traditional maritime finance sector.

“This is a proud moment for the Kaia ecosystem. The successful closing of Pegasus demonstrates the practical utility of Kaia’s DLT infrastructure in the RWA space and marks an important milestone for Galactica’s RWA strategy. Kaia supported this transaction by providing its Web3 partner network and blockchain expertise, and this is just the beginning as Galactica continues to roll out innovative, high-quality tokenized RWA investment opportunities that democratize access to the global economy.”

Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman, Kaia DLT Foundation

Financing The Project

The funding utilized blockchain technology to enable fractional ownership. This allowed Pegasus to open investment participation to a broader range of investors, breaking down barriers in a sector traditionally dominated by large institutions.

The project was launched in collaboration with:

  • InvestaX: A tokenization platform licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
  • PT Pelayaran Korindo: An Indonesian shipping company.

“The speed at which the Pegasus offer closed is a testament to the maturity of the tokenization market. Our partnership with Galactica and Kaia shows that when you combine a strong asset with a licensed, secure framework, global capital follows. We are excited to continue this journey as more institutional-grade assets come on-chain.”

Modernizing Indonesia’s Fleet

The funds raised will support bridge financing for a 145,000 CBM (cubic meter) LNG ship.

According to the Foundation, this allocation aligns with Galactica’s mission to modernize Indonesia’s maritime fleet. Indonesia was chosen as the primary market because it accounts for more than 10% of the world’s registered vessels.

Galactica plans to leverage its partnership with PT Pelayaran Korindo for further tokenization applications in maritime assets. The team also announced that investors who missed the Pegasus round can join the waitlist for upcoming RWA releases.

“The overwhelming response to Pegasus confirms our thesis: there is a significant, untapped demand for high-quality, transparent RWA products. With the successful close of this first offer, we have not only funded a vital piece of maritime infrastructure but also established a repeatable blueprint for the future of ship finance.”

Young Kim, Chief Executive Officer, Galactica
