SoyJack Party Bust 4Chan Data Vaults in Cyber Raid: Degens in Despair

The popular right-wing social media platform 4chan is down, with an online cabal calling itself Soyjack Party claiming responsibility for an orchestrated hack dubbed “Soyclipse.”

The attackers posted alleged receipts, including screenshots of admin tools and mod data, to back up their claims.

This comes as posts on 4chan are way down due to astroturfing campaigns and AI. The constant shilling has made 4chan almost unusable.

There’s something newsworthy happening every hour: stocks have crashed; there’s a global trade war. Japan, China, and South Korea have put aside their differences. There is no shortage of insane things to talk about, but posts are down.

Are we supposed to believe that half of /pol/ has suddenly gotten a life? Or was this attack months in the making?

Soyjack Attack, What Happened?

A user known as “Chud” claims a hacker burrowed into 4chan’s systems for over a year, exposing staff details and leaking over 10,000 lines of site code. The breach reportedly reopened the ghost of the /qa/ board and laid bare sensitive backend systems—from admin consoles to user databases.

Leaked screenshots suggest a full sweep of 4chan’s infrastructure, leaving security expert Kevin Beaumont to call it “a comprehensive own.” LOL. This is all too funny. The likely culprit? Antiquated PHP code that cracked wide under pressure.

The breach spotlighted a glaring flaw: 4chan’s infrastructure depends on PHP software from 2016. Known for its vulnerabilities, the outdated tech made the site a sitting duck for the Soyjack party.

Hackers reportedly exploited gaps in phpMyAdmin, enabling them to manipulate databases, grab sensitive files, and wreak havoc unseen.

An X user, @_yushe, validated the leaked code’s authenticity, slamming 4chan’s “prehistoric” reliance on obsolete systems. Experts and insiders alike speculated ulterior motives, with VX Underground pointing to years of tension between factions like /qa/ and /lgbt/ as a possible spark.

AI Is Killing Social Media and 4chan

4chan has very lax mod rules so it is very susceptible to astroturfing and bad actors. It also doesn’t help that everywhere is filled with bots. Reddit, Twitter, Youtube — all of them are bot farm nests.

Reddit actually has bot families that reproduce threads exactly, years later and word for word, based on human posting years ago.

Social media users have also been trained to respond only to certain prompts, which makes it even easier for AI to repost.

It’s getting very hard to tell AI apart from humans anymore.

Even though 4chan claims to be a bastion of “free speech,” the good and bad that might bring, it’s become Reddit with extra steps. Hey, we hope /biz/ comes back so we can get more scoops on altcoins.

Soyjack Party: Fallout for 4chan

The fallout couldn’t be uglier for 4chan. Moderator emails, passwords, and even real names are out in the wild, setting the stage for doxxing and revenge schemes.

Internet culture is downstream of 4chan: we wouldn’t have Reddit, Twitter, or many internet memes like Pepe. Hell, even Trump got elected in 2016 based on trolling campaigns from the site. Only time will tell if this is the coup de grâce for the most chaotic part of the internet.
